Friday
What an amazing opportunity I've been given to get down to Loiusanna to help out at a 2-1-1 call center there. I'll leave Tue the 6th and be back the 27th. Its also a great learning opportunity so I can bring back to WV the best practices and try to implement some in our 2-1-1 system. Altho they are not anywhere near this magnitude, WV has flooding thru out the state from time to time. And this is Disaster Preparedness month.
Hope you all found it in your hearts to donate something to Red Cross and/or the United Way. If you can't donate $, go donate blood--even if it isn't an immediate need, it might be needed.
We are also on a list to house evacuees. We signed up at Operation Katrina. They haven't gotten to housing beyond the immediate needs but if they need somewhere to go...
My contact in Monroe LA said she hasn't found a place for volunteers to stay yet but they have a 56 phone bank set up for 24/7 answering. I imagine I'll be busy.
All of us--victims of the disaster and the volunteers there to help could use yuor prayers. I saw this on a billlboard today--- "Life is short, pray hard."
