3PM on Saturday

Hey there from Monroe LA
The calls have slowed just a bit but the needs are still great. For the most part people seem to have been evacuated, most have shelter (temp), food and water. They have the basics. But they are still having trouble getting assistance from FEMA, there seems to be little cash assistance for gas or whatever food stamps don't cover. There are those who have little but are hosting 7 or more people. I am constantly amazed at the lack of anger--they are frustrated but patient.

Terrific locals here, hosting us, driving and the food--no chance of getting thin, I may give up on that fantasy of ever being thin again anyway. But I digress--the food is good and theres lots of it. The meals are as good as the desserts--REALLY!

I'm in shift supervising training but its all kinda fly by the seat of your pants or skirt and grab the info you can and pass it on as can.

No other news. Am getting to some meetings. Tomorrow, Sunday nite is a celebration of some sort with a meal and speakers. Open AA mtg last nite & met some women that helped me get back to the apt.

I'm looking forward to getting to the grocery store tonite. How wild did I used to be? My life is not now what I remember it--some days I do miss the drama. I might be hyper sensitive at times but I stop short of creating drama--especially now--my dramas seem so small and I hope in perspective.
I am glad to be a part of the recovery process and I am learning lots.

Christine...
What a wonderful thing you are doing, I can't say that enough. I just said to Glenn the other night that an experience like this will really help you with your perspectives on crisis and drama vs calmness and serenity...funny you should mention that in your blog.
Keep on trucking, Sweetie. And get down with your bad self jivin' to zydaco!!!
Love ya bunches.
