its a weekend
We can tell its a weekend cause the calls have slwed down some. But the needs are still great.
I got a good nites sleep--bugs be damned. I left the lights on and slept on the bed instead of the couch. I feel better.
There are people here to answer the phones from all over the country. What a wonderful experience this is.
One of those answering the phones is Ann who lost everything in MS. She is here in Monroe staying with friends as an evacuee and she is here answering the phones to help others. I tear up considering how she is giving so much when she has so little now. And I found her special even before I knew much about her.
The call center is way more organized and calm. I get to use so many of my skills but I do seem to piss off some of the UW Staff (not the pres of UW or the 2-1-1 director here) because I try to get the operators what they need. I don't think they understand the sacrifices some have made to be here to answer phones 12 hour days/nights. I could be wrong. And of course I do know the staff really put themselves out the first weeks of this disaster.
All in all I am so very glad to be here.
