Christmas Eve 24 years ago
Christmas Eve morning 8 days beyond my due date found me in KC and Glenn's farmlike kitchen in Slatedale feasting on a huge farmlike breakfast. It was yummy---I remember.
Around noon we went home because I startd labor. It was my 2nd baby and I knew labor had started. When they gave me the due date of Dec 16th I counted past it 8 days cause I was 8 days late with Lonny. It was time.
In the hospital I lost that wonderful breakfast. Around 9pm when the baby wasn't showing up the doctor used what he called Radio's forceps and bounced on my belly. 9:30pm he arrived. Dr Radio asked if I'd be called him Jesus since he was born Christmas Eve? Nope. I had the name Noel picked out for a boy but Nik's Dad didn't agree with that name. He went overnite without a name.
Christmas morning the nurse brought him to me in a stocking.
Lonny age 2 1/2 walked in later wearing his new holster set smiling and shouting that Santa had come when he stopped suddenly and I can still hear the awe in his voice "Mom you have a baby!"
How clear 24 years ago can be when I couldn't tell you where I was or what I did 2 days ago.
Enjoy your babies. 24 years from now they could have babies of their own.
Yesterday talking to Helena--Gran you coming? Look Gran Mickey Mouse is on tv. Are you coming to my house Gran?
Happy Birthday Nik. Lonny's looking after you and yours.
We love you like no other can.

How beautiful this is.
Happy Birthday Nik. I know too that Lonny is joining in on the celebration.
Have a Merry Christmas Christine. Thank you for sharing all of this, all of you. You write about it so vividly. Love you.
Thank you for sharing your life with us.
Ahhhhh...ya know, it sure doesn't seem like 24 years ago...a couple of life times ago, maybe, but surely not 24 years. I can still taste the home fries and damn, it sure was a good breakfast!
Hope your trip to the Valley is as nice as ours was. Always too short, but long enough to fill up on a ton of love to last a few more weeks.
I love what and who we have become, my friend. It has a lasting flavor to it.
