Mansfield OH
We drove out here Friday afternoon into the night arriving around 9pm. DM's uncle's funeral held yesterday at 11. My first military funeral ever and the first I've ever attended on a Sat. Makes it not a hardship for those traveling or unable to take off from work. Poor Sunny is in a kennel yet again. She always smells so flowery when we get her back. It is like zero with the wind chill factor when we stood at graveside.
I still don't get some of these customs or the need for cemettaries. I've now decided on donating my body to the medical school for someone's learning to be a Doc. I want just a celebration/service with pictures and loving or funny testamonies. But mostly I am not ready to die just yet,
Nice seeing DM interact with his family. I did ask him why he is so guarded with me and some others. I asked if it is me but he says its not. Good conversation. No accusations or recriminations just conversing. Maybe nothing will change either. It was so nice to see him this way.
His family here wants us to come out more often. It wasn't a difficult trip. His aunt is his Mom's sister and she is the last of that line. And here's a WV clan thing--some of his cousins are double cousins. Too lengthy to explain here. DM's brother and wife were out here too. They want to try to get together with us more often--try for once a month. I've got a real hankerin' to see my boy and his girls. Am missing my family.
Well, I came down to get a cuppa tea and here I am in the biz center while DM is showering. This is a great hotel--I love Hampton Inns. Not looking forward to venturing outside its very very very cold.
Anniversary meeting tonite at my Sun nite meeting. My friend LA is the AA speaker and T the Alanon one. I watched LA go in and out for a coupla years. She's got 2 years now sober. This is the first time her spnsor is allowing her to speak. Can't wait.
Enjoy your Sunday in a warm and cozy kind of way
Headed back to WV

Medical Science? I am not sure I want to be laid out on some slab with a bunch of want-a-be doctors poking at me. Now, being a genealogist myself, I love cemeteries because there is so much history in them. On any given nice afternoon, you may find me walking through one researching, something several of my family members just can't understand but I can't understand them either so I guess we are even. Anyway, I see you are still one busy girl. Have a great week.
Sorry about the death in the family. I hope you can see his family more... if you want to... and that you can see your family soon too.
I agree about the medical school. I plan to do that too.. hopefully I can help the next person or next doctor.
Have a good week.
