with what I've got
From ODAT Sept 9th:
"God make me grateful for all the good things I have been taking for granted."
Just back from a 4 mile walk down by the river on the rail trail. What amazing beauty everywhere I look. West Virginia is gorgeous. The Mon river is slow lazy quiet and teaming with life. Saw a kingfisher again in a tree then take a dive onto the water catch something and fly to the other side of the river. No glasses on so I didn't see the catch.
Grateful for the chance to get to the trail. No bike tonite. DM took the truck to OH for a bike ride. He's the kind of biker that can do a hundred miles in a day. Not me-- 10 is as good as I've done this summer.
The beginning of the ODAT page asks what am I doing with what I've got instead of wanting what I don't have or wishing my life were different. What am I doing with what I've got? Says the liberal amounts of gratitude for the smallest amounts of advantages and pleasures are a good beginning--
I am grateful:
to be alive
to be able to walk
to be able to walk at the river on the trail
to see God all around
for the tears because they are so healing
for quiet time
for making a dent in the basement mess
for peace
to feel the grief and to know love
for my fellow bloggers and their awesome support
to know love
Today was my kind of day of rest. Tomorrow is filled with church, grief support meeting, Sunday nite Alanon meeting then Mountain Stage. I am so blessed--- I don't know why I feel so sorry for myself so often. I really have been able to string a whole lot of really great days together in a row--since last Friday matter of fact. Been a whole lot of years since I've put together that many days in a row without wondering if the shoe will drop-- even if it drops with huge amounts of shit on it-- somehow I will be ok. I might hurt, I might have to face change but I don't know if there's anything I can't face now-- not that I'm that strong, just I finally understand its so out of my hands and in much bigger hands than mine.

After I have been sober I noticed how beautiful the world is around me.
