a quiet transformation
Got a new do! We'll see if I can manage it but I walked into the hairdresser place and said I am not an xpert on hair, she is and she is welcome to do whatever she would ike since I am weary of the same old same old. My hair is fine and thin and I do always ask for a razor cut to get it some ummpph. But I look at some other women with such envy because they look so classy and I just haven't been able to capture that look. I may never since I always seem to prefer comfort over high heeled pain. And yet when I wear heels I am not in pain. Hhmmm more lies I tell myself?
So I gots a new do, not just a trim and its sooo cute! She says it should work with some cocky paste stuff and lots of spray. Me, Ms Organic likes to think she is anyhow, using gunk and gook and a blow dryer. Ok, I mastered the blow dryer a few years ago. About the same time as the makeup. Well, thats a stretch. I started using makeup. never mastered the gooey stuff but it goes on. I was about 42 then. Of course the dippy hippie in me didn't allow alot of that stuff and most didn't believe I used any but I did.
Then the bra. I graduated to those very soft feels like nothing bras but switched to those bra in camisoles when they came out. A year or so into that my sponsor suggested not so gently that it was time to wear a bra. A real bra and took me shopping for a real bra a wonder bra but not so wonderful bra. That lasted a bit.
Then I switched back to the cotton, told you I'm a earth mama at heart but I started aging more and the sag oh my and now wear a hanes type soft sports bra that I love. I have more than one!
I do own 2 pairs of stylish high heeled shoes. They are a recent add since age 50.
I try and try and try with the clothes. DM made fun of me early on about how everything I own has flowers on it. All my clothes and the bedspread and curtains and geez what can't do with a few or more than that flowers? But I laid in wait for my hands to pull a flowered dress or shirt uhh blouse off the rack and pounced on my habit and darted backwards sometimes reeling into an unsuspecting other customer.
I can see how when I tried the prep or classic look how my closet bacame tan, black and white--void of color. So now I look for the reds and pastel blues and pinks I hear compliments when I wear those colors. But with collars--I look for the collars now.
Its exhausting work growing up into a grown up unwillingly.
But the biz suits causal style not powered are packed for the conference. Only a little gauze but hey thats the style now anyway and the girl who did my hair of course told me I DO NOT look old enuff to be a grandmother so of course I gave her a vary large tip for the compliment and the cute new do that I could be cursing her about tomorrow morning at 5am when I do the do to leave here to catch an 8am plane in Pittsburgh.
Onto the conference where I will jump and shout in my high heels PICK ME PICK ME for the national disaster team. They will of course recognize me for the trauma junkie we all know I am and give me a place on their I hope not too politically placed team of send me somewhere to help when help iswhat is needed.
Dressed like a grown up they are sure to recognize me as one, eh?
See ya all with a reort back to you next week someime. Cross your fingers now ya hear?
I'm so grateful to have the opportunities I've been having. Oh even the grown up variety.

My fingers are crossed and I am throwing in a prayer!
You are too cute with your new do-over. Short hair is hot, you can do so much with it. You can try using some organix goo, that will give it a more softer appeal than that stiffness hairpray can do.
I use some goo products, although not organic they do give some PAZAZZ! :)
My mom is has tomb-boy like features, well today she really does because she lives an alternative lifestyle. However when she was marries to my dad, YEARS ago, she taught herself how to wear high heels by wearing them while she cleaned the house (she was a housewife at the time). Hehee.
Ok, I have not checked in with you in a while so I wanted to drop in and send you my love.
. . . fingers crossed!
You are so funny...and I bet you look fab with that new do. I'll say a little prayer you get picked...but I'm sure you'll need nothing but your fab self to make it.
